411’s WWE Superstars Report 06.24.10 [2]

June 24, 2010 | Posted by Steve Cook

Hi, hello and welcome to 411’s WWE Superstars Report! I’m Steve Cook, and tonight we’ve got four matches from the Raw & Smackdown brands for your viewing pleasure. Your main event features former U.S. Champion R-Truth taking on the dastardly William Regal. If it’s Thursday night and it’s WGN America, it’s WWE Superstars!

Let’s get right to the action…

PYRO~! Expect everything on Superstars! Todd Grisham & Matt Striker are your hosts for the first half of the show.

Match 1: Singles Competition
JTG vs. Caylen Croft (w/Trent Baretta)

I hope this is better than the last match I saw with these two. Tieup into the ropes, Croft with a punch, off the ropes, JTG goes around and clips the knee, off the ropes, leg drop to the back of the head, he takes him into thje corner, whip, boot by JTG, Croft knocks him off and JTG lands on the floor, where Trent Baretta can kick him in the stomach while the referee is occupied. Cover gets two. He chokes JTG on the ring ropes and applies a cravate. Not quite Heroesque, but it’s good enough for government work. JTG fights out, he swinging neck breaks Croft, off the ropes, flying forearm, clothesline, dropkick, Mug Shot! JTG kicks Baretta down off the apron, back in the ring, a Shout Out finishes things.

Winner: JTG *
I didn’t think their last match was anything special, and this was more of the same with no noticeable improvement.

JTG celebrates with the kids like he’s the Junkyard Dog. Maybe if Shad Gaspard did anything to engage the people like that he’d still be around. That’s the only reason I can think of why JTG’s here and Shad isn’t.

Match 2: Singles Action
Luke Gallows (w/Serena) vs. Chris Masters

Luke pretended to be the Undertaker last week, so it’s a good thing that the Dead Man is like dead and stuff. No pyro for Masters this week because only the two main shows allow such a thing. Tieup, Masters powers Gallows into the corner, but Gallows punches Masters…boot, whip into the corner, Luke misses, Chris with an arm wringer into an armbar. Luke knees his way out and slams the Masterpiece, but an elbow drop misses and Masters vertical suplexes Gallows. Gallows rolls outside to get some advice from Serena as we go to commercial…

MASTERLOCK! Masters yells for it, but Gallows gets out of it and sends him outside…Masters hops back on the apron and Gallows knocks him off, landing back first! Luke follows him outside and throws him into the barricade and back into the ring. Splash on the back gets a two count. Chinlock by Gallows…fans get behind Masters and he fights out. He tries to slam Luke, but his back isn’t strong enough and Luke lands on top for a two count. Vertical suplex by Gallows gets two. Gallows uses a bow & arrow type move on Masters…Masters eventually fights out and throws him down. Chops, off the ropes, shoulder block by Masters, clothesline, another, Masters to the middle rope, shoulder block sends Gallows down for two. Whip reversed, big boot by Gallows gets a close two count! Masters powers out of the Gallows Pole, he repeatedly hits Gallows on the back and tries to apply the Masterlock, Gallows rams him into the corner. Masters on the middle rope, Serena distracts him, Gallows kicks him and maneuvers him into the Gallows Pole for the three count!

Winner: Luke Gallows **
Decent match here with two fellas that have stepped their game up pretty tremendously over the past year or so while flying under the radar.

Did I mention Serena is looking good tonight? I like my women to have more hair, but she’s getting it done.

Matt Striker avoids saying anything angry towards Husky Harris as we watch some NXT highlights.

The Bellas are…well, I’m not sure there’s words to describe the Bellas’ appearance this evening. I can say that they……..ARE WALKING!

Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler host the second half-hour of Superstars.

Match 3: Now With Divas!
Jillian Hall vs. Brie Bella (w/Nikki Bella)

Jillian says that everybody has World Cup Fever, so tonight after she wins she wants us to sing the Ole song with her. She sings it so we can suffer ruptured eardrums. I have to agree with Jerry Lawler’s opinion on my fellow Kentuckian…she looks better with her mouth closed. Tieup, wristlock by Brie, hammerlock, Jillian drop toe holds her down, Brie with a Thesz press…CATFIGHT! Lou used to do that spot all the time. Brie tries to go for a head scissors out of the corner but Jillian has none of it and lets her drop to the mat. Jillan takes over, snap mare and a kick to the back get two. Jillian slams Brie down, a tumbling splash meets nothing but knees, Brie kicks Jillian down twice, clothesline, bulldog gets two. Whip reversed, Brie elbows her in the apron, Jillian reverses the victory roll for two. She dumps Brie out over the top rope when she tries a monkey flip in the corner…uh oh, it’s time for the Bella Switch! But the referee figures out which one is legal by deciding which one is more sweaty. Jillian takes the sweaty one back in the ring, but the ref tries to make her back off and the Bellas switch behind his back anyway. Nikki rolls Jillian up and gets the three count!

Winner: Brie Bella (*½)
I did like the variation on the Bella Switch, and now we know that we can tell them apart by which one is sweating more. I think I’d go tattoo hunting myself, but I’m not a referee. Other than that, the rest was pretty low-end Diva fare.

Sheamus is the new two-time, two-time, two-time WWE Champion, and he has a video package to show for his efforts. Needs some Flogging Molly.

We get a replay of Mr. McMahon getting beat down by the Nexus on Raw. I recapped that! So who’s Stu? The new mystery Raw GM e-mailed that these actions will be met with the appropriate consequences.

Match 4: Main Event
R-Truth vs. William Regal

R-Truth’s entrance rap gets interrupted by a commercial. I’m sure you’ve heard it by now, so no big loss there. We can only hope that the Straight Up G William Regal raps his way down to the ring.

He does not. I’d boo him, but I can’t boo a man wearing a robe like that. Tieup into the corner, a clean break. They circle each other, tieup, Regal takes R-Truth over by the arm, Truth twists out, headlock off the ropes, shoulder block, off the ropes again and a flying head scissors by Truth. Two dropkicks by Truth, but he tweaks his knee on the second. Regal doesn’t care and starts stomping the injured body part. Kneebar by Regal, Truth tries to get out by pulling Regal’s hair as we watch the replay. Standing half-crab by Regal, Truth gets to the ropes. Regal kicks the knee of Truth…monkey flip by Truth, Regal begs off, but that’s a front as he regains the advantage and entwines Truth’s leg in the middle and bottom ropes. He boots away at the knee some more, but Truth slaps back and Regal runs into an elbow…punches by Truth, kick and a DDT plants William down. Count gets two. Overhead suplex by Regal, but he walks into a Lie Detector and a three count! I saw a similar spot with an overhead suplex getting pretty much no-sold just a few nights ago on YouTube. Regal needs to brush up on his Danshoku Dino matches.

Winner: R-Truth (**¼)
Didn’t get enough time to really get going, but Regal did some great work on Truth’s knee and made it worthwhile.

See you tomorrow night for some Smackdown!
